Fallin, Murphy top our preferences
October 30, 2008The Edmond Life & Leisure
Yes my friends, it is time for another election. It is a time when smarter publishers just make it another day at the office but your local publisher is not that bright. I feel compelled to let you know our opinions and thoughts on the candidates. You can blame it on my mentors in this business of Leland Gourley, Ben Blackstock, Ed Livermore and Dick Hefton. They believed a newspaper had an obligation to endorse candidates. However, I will be quick to remind you of what Gourley tells folks. “An editorial is not an edict from on high, it is only one man’s opinion,” is what he will tell you and he is correct. Voters have an obligation to study the candidates and issues in making their decisions. No one person or place should be your only source for making your election decisions.
First and foremost we proudly endorse returning Congresswoman Mary Fallin to office. As our representative for the 5th Congressional District in Oklahoma, she has proven herself by continuing to take her constituents view point and values to Washington, D.C. She has been a friend for over 22 years but our endorsement of Fallin is because of the loyalty and friendship she has shown not only Edmond and the 5th District but the entire state of Oklahoma. She has served Oklahoma with distinction and honor. We encourage you to join us and cast your vote for Mary Fallin for the United States Congress.
