My recommends. Some are close.

The Oklahoma City Friday

I GOT MYSELF in a fix several years ago by publishing a list of my recommendations on who to vote for in elections.
A few folks showed up at the polls carrying my column for help in the voting booth.
Now a lot of you are doing that, either to vote for, or against, the way I vote. So I have to keep offering my most sincere suggestions.
This year, as usual, some of the choices are very close and difficult.
FOR PRESIDENT--
You Oklahoma McCain-Palin voters, like me, might be discouraged. But it ain’t over til its over. Remember Gore and Kerry both had about the same percentage in the polls right before their defeat, as Obama has now.
I have voted for McCain because Obama scares me. The ACORN group he used to lead, wants a law making all corporations put a union official on their board. That’s destructive as putting Timothy McVey on the Oklahoma City police force. Also Obama will raise taxes on small businesses that are trying to save jobs.
FOR U. S. SENATE--
I have already voted absentee for our incumbent Senator Jim Inhofe, who has represented us well. He saved Tinker for replacing I-40s worn out crosstown route and maintained sensible views on environmentalism. Andrew Rice is a bright young State Senator but right now a little too liberal for me.
FOR 5TH DISTRICT CONGRESS --
Mary Fallin, our incumbent. has done a good job and is a good representative in Congress. One good term deserves another.
FOR CORPORATION COMMISSIONER -- Jeff Cloud definitely for reelection. And Dana Murphy, 6-year legal officer for the Commission, for the short term. Dana and her opponent Jim Roth, appointed by the Governor, are both well qualified but I chose Dana for her extra years of experience there.
FOR STATE REPRESENTATIVE--
For reelection of the whole slate of Fridayland State Representatives. They all have been clean, honest, hard-working, intelligent and interested in improvement. They are # 82, Guy Liebmann; #83, Randy McDaniel; # 85, David Dank; and #100, Mike Thompson.
FOR SHERIFF--
I’m sticking with John Whetsel. He’s a professional respected in law enforcement circles, having served as President of the International Police Chiefs association.
